Interview with a Vampire

This week, we cover the genre of vampires. We start out with an old film, Nosferatu, and compare key give-aways for the genre. Vampires seem to be in large castles away from modern society where it is dark and creepy. They wear draped clothing and don't prey on anyone in particular or having to do with gender. They sleep in coffins during the day and prey on victims at night. 

In this weeks reading, Interview with a Vampire, the main character battles with his inner demons. He refuses to kill a human and struggles with the fact whether he is good or evil. Lestat brings up the point that evil is a point of view. They are the way they are and he needs to accept that. In the section that we read, the main character is obsessed with this woman and he desperately wants her, but refuses to give in and kill her. We also get introduced to him finding this child who is malnourished and orphaned. She wants to eat more, but doesn't understand that that kills them. The main character tells her "They're sick and they're dead. You see, they die when we drink from them." The mood of this passage and novel over all is
